“Now I have access to many more buyers. They value my products. It is very easy to use”.
The farm is located in a small plateau in Queijas, Portugal, near the Aire and Candeeiros Mountains Natural Park, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
Far from the pollution of large cities, Brígida’s farm is in an area protected by regulation as to be exclusively for farming. Surrounded by forests, Brígida’s sweet potatoes and butternut squash grow in harmony with nature and wildlife.
Brígida’s farm is organically certified and is based on the farming tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation.
The microclimate with both Atlantic and Mediterranean characteristics, and the rich dark soil which is worked year after year following the methods inherited from Brígida’s grandfather, provide optimum nutrients to their organic butternut squash and potatoes. The combination of both is part of the secret for such tasty and long lasting products.
Brígida cultivates three kinds of sweet potatoes. Lyra, which is white inside, is the traditional variety in Portugal. In addition, she grows “Purple” and “Orange” sweet potato. They are suitable for soups and hot dishes together with other root vegetables.
